Tina Cerro is an artist who lives and works in New York City and Florida.  She has shown in New York and throughout the country, as well as selling her work to private collections.  In 2019 she earned an apprenticeship at Manny Cantor Center in NYC.  Primarily she is a self taught artist with a strong focus in contemporary ceramic sculpture.  She fell in love with ceramics in high school and continued to take classes through the years, and was fortunate to have a few influential teachers along the way, including most recently Liz Lohr who helped encourage Tina to take her visual art into center focus, which felt like the most natural next step.

 

Her background is in performing arts.  She holds a BFA in Theater and a minor in Creative Writing from Florida Atlantic University.  Later she became a graduate of the Maggie Flanigan two year Acting Conservatory in NYC where she had the privilege to work with Maggie herself. She has performed on many stages, written short plays, a one woman show, and performed improv comedy.  She also trained and performed Oriental (Middle Eastern) dance for four years with Myriam Eli, who taught the popstar Shakira.  Tina found her own improvisational dance style mixing Oriental with Modern.  Before that, she trained in a metaphysical Japanese martial art form called Aiki-Jutsu, and learned a daily zen meditation practice at eighteen years old, which greatly influenced her life and work, anchoring an interest in the body mind spirit connection. 

 

Tina holds great respect for multiple art forms and believes creativity is fluid at best.  Likely, she will merge these disciplines in future projects.  She enjoys living an authentic life while continually challenging herself creatively.
